Torrile (PR), 4 June 2025 -
A day dedicated to sustainability and innovation saw Vulcan, Barilla and Nicolosi Trasporti as protagonists in a joint event at the TAP service station in Torrile.
The meeting entitled 'TRANSPORT: CHALLENGES AND CHANGES', organised by Barilla, Nicolosi and Vulcan, turned the spotlight on the crucial issue of synergy in the decarbonisation of the transport sector, demonstrating how collaboration between Italian excellences can pave the way for a greener future.
Sustainability is no longer an option, but a compelling necessity. This is the clear vision guiding the long-term partnership between Barilla, Nicolosi Trasporti and Vulcan, who with this event reaffirmed the importance of integrating virtuous practices into key supply chain processes.
A development model that looks decisively to the future of the environment and food, where more sustainable logistics is the way forward.
A Concrete Example of Green Logistics
From 2020, Barilla's road shipments to Sicily and part of northern Italy will be entrusted to Nicolosi Trasporti. The Sicilian company has made a strategic and far-sighted choice, investing in a fleet entirely fuelled by LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and Bio-GNLa clean fuel obtained from agricultural waste.
With around 5,000 trips per year, Nicolosi Trasporti contributes significantly to the reduction of climate-changing emissions, making Barilla's commitment to environmental sustainability tangible.
Vulcan's Key Role: Transparency and Certification
In this virtuous ecosystem, Vulcan plays a central role.
With over 50 years of experience in LNG distribution, Vulcan is a pioneer in the creation of a certified Bio-GNL supply chain. It is thanks to its extensive infrastructure, which includes numerous filling stations in Italy and Europe, and its state-of-the-art traceability system Vulcancardthat Barilla can rely on transparent data and official certifications.
In fact, this system allows the Guarantee of Origin (GO) certificates issued by the GSE to be endorsed to the company, accurately and verifiably documenting the reduction of the carbon footprint of each transport.
After a convivial moment at the TAP service station in Torrile, the event continued at theAcademia Barilla in Parma, where a round table was held focusing on the opportunities and criticalities of sustainable transport. At the centre of the debate: the evolution of the regulatory framework and the effects of the ecological transition on the entire logistics sector.
Notable interventions include those of Andrea Bosi, Key Account Manager at Vulcan, Aldo RandazzoChief Operating Officer of Nicolosi Trasporti, and Gianluigi Mason, Logistics Italy Director of Barilla.
The meeting represented a constructive discussion between companies and operators in the sector, testifying to a shared commitment to an increasingly efficient, innovative and sustainable future of logistics.
